KY - Business group joins push for literacy

Early Literacy Jefferson County will unveil a sweeping new literacy plan to get all of the district's 97,000 students reading at their grade level in just four years. The initiative will involve refocusing teaching around reading and writing and redirecting $2 million a year in district funds to expand early childhood education, broaden intervention programs, increase literacy training for teachers, conduct more frequent testing and hire more reading specialists.
