HUNTINGTON — The Cabell County Board of Education will hear an update on the Pre-K program and an overview of student test scores from the WESTEST 2 at its meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the central office, 2850 5th Ave.
The agenda also includes new or renewals of contractual agreements with private Pre-K programs as partners with the county’s Pre-K plan. Those partners include the Child Development Academy of Marshall University at a cost of $49,760; Children’s Place at a cost of $48,150; Crossroads United Methodist Church Childcare Ministries at a cost of $125,190; Eastwood Baptist Learning Center at a cost of $64,200; Kiwanis Day Care Center at a cost of $48,150; Marshall University Early Education STEM Center at a cost of $64,200; Playmates Child Development Center at a cost of $54,570; River Valley Child Development Services at a cost of $28,890; Southwestern Community Action Council Head Start at a cost of $435,350; St. Joseph Grade School and Preschool at a cost of $71,262; and Our Lady of Fatima Parish School at a cost of $21,186.
This is part of the West Virginia Pre-K program, which is seeking a long-term goal of providing free preschool for every 4-year-old in the state.
The agenda also includes the official conveyance of the former West Middle School building to the Cabell County Community Service Organization and discussion about the future of the former Miller Elementary School.
