VAIL VALLEY — Eagle County Health & Human Services' Early Head Start program in Colorado's Vail Valley will get $1.1 million in federal stimulus funds over the next two years.
The money will support enrollment of 37 infants, toddlers and pregnant women in Health & Human Services programs, including child care and home visitations.
The programs focus on children's physical, social, emotional and intellectual development; the health of pregnant women; and parenting, says Jennie Wahrer, assistant director of Children & Family Services.
“Early Head Start services provide early, continuous, intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services,” said Wahrer. “Research shows that these types of programs improve school readiness outcomes for children.”
