The San Angelo Independent School District Board of Trustees tonight is expected to approve a proposal seeking nearly $300,000 for Head Start and Early Head Start employee raises and increases in work qualifications.

Employees' starting salaries range from $15,000 to $30,000 a year, and the wage increase proposal requests a permanent 3.06 percent cost-of-living raise and a one-year 1.84 percent cost-of-living raise.

The district also is seeking funding for Head Start and Early Head Start workers to earn a degree or receive specialized training.

The board was briefed on the proposals during last week's board meeting.

Also tonight, the board is expected to select Blue Cross Blue Shield as the third-party administrator of its employee health plan. The company has said it believes it can save the district money.

Assistant Superintendent Jeff Bright will present the 2008-09 fifth six-weeks average daily attendance report, and Steve Van Hoozer, the district's director of bond planning and construction, will discuss bond projects and their progress.
