The bill is called "Demarion's Law" for 3-year-old Demarion Pittman. The boy suffered a heat stroke and brain damage after being left in a van last August by employees of an uninsured day-care facility.
Demarion's mother - Edna Pittman - says his medical expenses are already more than $1 million with millions more needed to care for him in the future.
Representative Mike Shelton says the law won't help the Pittman family but will help families in the future if their children are injured or killed at day-care centers.
The law also requires day care facilities that are unable to get insurance to inform parents that they have no liability coverage.
