WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2010 - USDA today announced the nationwide expansion of at-risk afterschool meals to promote improvements in health and nutrition in Child Care settings. The expansion is part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 signed into law by President Obama on December 13, 2010, and one of the first provisions to be implemented. Under the new legislation, eligible children will receive extra nutrition assistance through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) as eligibility for afterschool meal reimbursement expands to all 50 states.

When Maribel Hernandez got the school bus postcard two weeks before her daughter headed off to Douglas Anderson School of the Arts this year, she felt her stomach drop.
October 5, 2008- Denville, New Jersey- Early Years Child Care Center is a childcare provider that strives to meet the needs of today’s working parent. According to Nick Rella, owner of the facility, Early Years also caters to any family situation, whether it be working parents that require full-time care or for parents that simply want his or her child to develop a balance between an educational environment and a play program where fun is the focus.
Not every parent has the luxury of staying at home with their children.
Dozens of local working parents rely on before- and after-school programs to care for their children while they're at work. Most programs are run by organizations, such as the YMCA, right inside the school the children attend.
The YWCA of Greater Newburyport has received overwhelming response to three new after-school programs that were launched last week in an effort to make after-school child care easier for parents.
