CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) ― Wyoming Business Council staffers have recommended that the council's board reject a $3 million grant request for a publicly funded child-care center in Cheyenne.
A decline in demand could spoil plans for a government-funded child-care facility.
CHEYENNE -- Efforts to build a large community child-care center here took a big step forward Thursday.
It's not every year that a school holiday slows down business for Debbie's Care Center in Evansville, but the recent three-week holiday break for Natrona County's students has done exactly that.
A new report by the Children's Defense Fund, a child advocacy and research group, says considerably fewer Wyoming kids are living in poverty compared to the national average. But that's no comfort to some Cowboy State families who are daily struggling to get by.
It was standing room only at the Mountain View town council meeting. The town held a public meeting to hear input about a proposed resolution. The purpose of the resolution would be to submit an application for a grant for construction of a childcare facility.
