Charleston - Working families and parents in school or educational classes can receive financial support for child care through the West Virginia Child Care Program.
The Child Care Program, which is managed by Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agencies across the state, provides assistances and resources to families with children under 13 while parents and/or legal guardians are working or attending training or educational classes.
“The goal of this program is to provide access to child care and related resources for families that need it,” said Judy Curry, director of the program. “The cost of child care shouldn’t be a burden to parents who are trying to support their families.”
Child care support is based on family size. If a family receives a monthly income less than the following, they may qualify for the program.
Families can apply for child care assistance by scheduling an appointment or visiting their local CCR&R office. To receive assistance, parents or guardians who have a child living in their home fulltime are required to show proof that they are employed or are going to school.
Families living in Logan and Mingo counties contact MountainHeart Child Care Services - North at 1-877-211-KIDS or (304) 257-9375.
In addition to financial support for child care, CCR&R agencies provide a variety of child care programs and services to parents and legal guardians regardless of the family income.
