Child care services for eligible East Texans have received a multi-million dollar boost from the federal government's stimulus package, according to a press release.

East Texas Council of Governments announced this week that the Workforce Solutions East Texas board has received an additional $4,697,773 for the Child Care Service program for the East Texas region.

The program subsidizes child care costs for eligible clients and contracts with day care centers to provide services.

Funds received are a result of the stimulus package and will be available through June 2011.

To be eligible for child care assistance, an individual must meet income guidelines and be employed or attending vocational training at least 25 hours a week.

A combination of vocational training of 25 hours is allowed, as well as attending college for nine semester hours.
