NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Parents across Tennessee can get substantial savings on their child's day care or after-school care through a new program offered by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.
Families will receive a discount for a state-approved day care based off of the family's income. The program is funded by the National Recovery Act. Through the stimulus package, Tennessee has been given $42 million to help working families. "It's less stressful, and I appreciate it a whole lot more," said Kanesha Taylor, who said she spends $800 a month on child care for her young son. The state estimates it will be able to help at least 7,000 children, and it applies to school-age children in after-school programs as well.
