ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A home day care bill, in memory of a four month old baby who died in a Lee County day care center, has passed the Georgia Senate.
law, crafted by Senator Freddie Powell Sims, passed the Senate unanimously and will now be voted on in the House.
In February 2008, infant Jace Hester was found not breathing in a home day care in Lee County. He died later that day.
While the investigation was conducted, the center was allowed to continue to operate. An autopsy ruled Jace died from unexplained sudden infant death syndrome, but crime scene photos showed mold and dog feces in the room where Jace was kept.
